FLI's are an old file format typically containing animations created with Autodesk Animator, Animator Pro, or early dos versions of 3D studio. I get most of mine from cd.textfiles.com

If you made any of these images, LEAVE A COMMENT! I want to know how these things came to be, and who made them!

Question

Anonymous asked: Hi! So, I have been making animations in animator pro and stumbled across this and... how do you convert them to gifs?? I've tried a few basic conversion programs and they haven't worked yet, there's usually an unknown issue while processing. Not sure if you've experienced this... !! Thank you

I use one of the prepackaged pocoscripts called “numpic”, which does a rather neat job of saving out a flic into a numbered sequence of gif files. then i use gifsicle to make it animated. this is also cool for animations that do weird inter-frame palette changes that bog standard flic readers choke on.

Question

Anonymous asked: Do you have a binary to work under Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8? Can you share it?

Yes and no. There is currently a working and compilable /msdos/ binary that works great using dosbox.  that is here https://github.com/AnimatorPro/Animator-Pro/downloads  and here http://www.dosbox.com

Question

0olong asked: If you're interested, most of the animations on my "Geometrical Animations" page (google it, we're not allowed links apparently) were made (by me) with Autodesk Animator Pro. Just not the 3D or Java ones.

Yes! I know! I’ve been trying to get in contact with you for years, so I set up this blog to try and lure you to me, and my devious plan has worked. IT HAS WORKED. Okay, so now that I have your attention- I’ve been working on ressurecting Autodesk animator, and I was interested in finding out if you were interested in sharing pocoscripts. checkout http://animatorpro.org and let me know!
